Post Mortimer ๐Ÿฅธ

Damn. what a rollercoaster, this one... The picture is what my original vision for the endings was, a unique mural for each ๐Ÿ˜… If I keep vibing with it, I'm definitely going to release a little update to add that, maybe replace some of the redundant puzzles, add music and sfx, maybe even include a little tutorial level to ease into things better. I should probably also make it paid ๐Ÿฅบ but i hate the idea of that.... Weh.

Anyway Postmortem.

What Whent Whell

  • The aesthetics Slapped for some reason.. I should keep experimenting with the "fat outlines" style!
  • The concept was a good mix of simple and complex. I didn't overcomplicate the core mechanics, just NONRECURSIVE blockpusher + ghost world + picking up the animals. It was definitely overwhelming at first to approach a level with so much variety in goals, but once I started it just kind of worked out.
  • The "exponential lerp" tile thing made the fundamentals for this super easy, and that probably allowed for so much more to get built on top! I bet if I keep going with it, I'll probably be able to adapt it to more of a variety of mechanics/genres in the future!

What Whent Whrong

  • STAYING UP LATE. I stayed up all the way to the end of the late submission period, 2am for me ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ It was a stupid thing to do and I felt Miserable the next day. It's hard to say I shouldn't have, because I was so excited about this idea that I couldn't stand to see it fail... But I can't say for sure if it was worth it to stay up.
  • Chaos in my Routines. I'm in sort of a weird living situation right now, living out of a suitcase and staying with some friends, so it was hard to keep up the usual "coffeeshops morning" thing going, and that was definitely partially responsible for ending up staying up too. Breaking routines has butterflying effects, so I need to keep in mind that it's Even More Critical now to stay Locked In with all that.
  • Food. Also because of the living situation thing, I didn't keep up with my daily protein needs. This also contributed to the sort of listlessness I felt at the end, and I could have done a lot better had I stayed on track with that. Maybe it would be good to find some shelf-stable protein sources, rather than just chickensnack (easy to eat, but hard to set up day 1 in a new place) or eggs (hard to stomach enough of, only 6g/per). Maybe I'll try keeping some canned beans and tuna around, for emergencies? Those are workable with just a can opener.

ANyway that's about it. I'm overall really happy with how the project turned out, despite everything ^_^
